Nigerian Fenerbahçe player’s watch stolen in Turkiye: Player accuses girlfriend of theft

An investigation has been launched following allegations that Fenerbahçe footballer Bright Osayi-Samuel had a valuable wristwatch stolen from his home in Üsküdar, Istanbul.

The player has accused his girlfriend, identified as Ayşenur O., of taking the item.

According to reports, Osayi-Samuel noticed the watch was missing after returning from an overseas trip. He subsequently filed a complaint with authorities, claiming the theft occurred during a visit to his residence by Ayşenur O.

In response, the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an inquiry on charges of “theft.”

As part of the investigation, Ayşenur O. gave a statement to prosecutors, explaining that she and Osayi-Samuel had been friends for approximately three to four months. She recounted events from April 27, when they visited an entertainment venue in Şişli together.

“Bright was enjoying the night with his friends while I stayed close to him. The venue was very crowded. Afterward, we went to his house in Üsküdar to collect his luggage because he was due to travel to the UK. We stayed at his home for about 20 to 25 minutes before heading to Sabiha Gökçen Airport,” she said.

Ayşenur O. claimed that she had not seen Osayi-Samuel since his departure. “About a month to a month and a half later, he sent me a message on WhatsApp accusing me of stealing his watch during our visit. I told him that if he truly believed that, we should go to the authorities together. I did not steal his watch—I didn’t even see it. I reject the allegations and maintain my innocence,” she stated.

Osayi-Samuel, in his statement through his legal counsel, confirmed that he met Ayşenur O. at the Şişli venue and that they spent time together there. He said he was wearing the watch during the night and that they went to his house afterward, before he left the country later the same day.

Upon returning to Turkey in early May, the footballer realized that the watch was missing. “I believe the watch was stolen by Ayşenur O., as no one else entered my home during that period. Security camera footage also confirms that I was wearing the watch on the day we returned to the house,” he stated.

The investigation is ongoing.
