Military plane crashes in Ondo state with 32 on board
A military aircraft with 32 people on board has crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ondo State on Monday.
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, says the aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, was en route from Benin to Lagos when contact was lost at about 9:13am on Monday.
The minister said he has spoken with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and pledged the ministry’s support for the rescue effort.
The wreckage has been located, and search and rescue operations are underway.
Preliminary information puts the number of passengers at 25, with seven crew members on board.
Further details are still being expected.
