Two Nigerians sentenced to a combined 46 months in prison for drug crime
A Famagusta court on Tuesday sentenced two Nigerians accused of drug related crime to a combined 46 months in prison.
The accused who are siblings, a 32-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested in February, 2018 with about 150 grams of synthetic cannabinoid material worth thousand of Turkish liras.
They have been in prison since February.
The two accused who expressed their remorse over the crime were given prison sentences according to their role in the crime.
One of the defendant has graduated from the university while the other is a drop out due to financial reasons.
The court judge said their punishment would serve as a deterrent to others who are bent on committing such a crime in the future.
