Man who stabbed a woman to death in Gonyeli did so because she refused to reconcile with him
Man who stabbed a woman to death in Gonyeli last week has confessed that he first beat the woman with a wood before stabbing her to death.
Gülbahar Ulutan was arrested in a nearby village, following the release of his photo by authorities three days after he brutally murdered a woman working as a cleaner in Gonyeli.
Two other men, aged 35 and 39, who allegedly assisted the suspect escape, were arrested on Sunday, November 4 but were released on bail on Monday.
The murder suspected confessed to committing the crime, saying that he killed Ulutan because she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
Speaking in court on Tuesday, the suspect said he first beat 45-year-old Gulbahar Ulutan with a wood before stabbing her to death with a knife.
He then escaped the scene of the incident to a secluded place and took off his blood stained clothes and disposed of the knife.
According to police report, the woman his ex-lover had was attacked by the accused because she refused to make peace with him.
He was detained for eight more days by a Lefkosa court.
