Six killed in east Libya helicopter crash

Libya: Six people have been killed after a military helicopter operated by armed forces loyal to Libya's eastern government crashed on Tuesday. Among those killed in the crash was an adviser to the head of Libya's eastern parliament, Colonel Idris Younes, a military source said, adding that two passengers survived.

The source said the crash occurred about 65km from Tobruk, where the eastern parliament is based.

The cause of the crash was not clear at the time of the report.

The parliament moved to the east of Libya in 2014 setting up parallel government after rival factions seized control of the capital, Tripoli.

A UN-backed government is now trying to establish itself from Tripoli, but failed to win endorsement from the east faction.
