Single mum dresses as dad for son so he won't be left out

US: 31-year-old single mum Yevette Vasquez, from Fort Worth, Texas, in her effort to double as a dad to her son so he doesn't feel left out during his school’s ‘Doughnuts with Dads’ day celebration went on to dress as a dad for her 12-year-old son Elijah.

Vasquez has been raising her three sons all alone since she divorced their father, who was sent to jail few years ago.

Speaking to ABC News, Vasquez said she noticed a lot of cars parked in the school parking lot when she went to drop her son off in school.
“I asked him, ‘What’s going on? Is there some event that I’m supposed to be here for’? and he tells me, ‘No, don’t worry. It’s just ‘Doughnuts with Dad.’” Vasquez said.
“I told him, ‘How come you didn’t tell me?’ and joked I could’ve dressed up as a man for him.”
And according to her when Elijah didn’t laugh at the suggestion, she made up her mind on the plan.
“He was like, ‘Well, Mum, we got 10 minutes before the bell rings!’,” she said.
“When I saw how excited he was about it, I decided to follow through.”
Vasquez drove home, wore a plaid shirt, a cap, put on a fake mustache and drove back to her son's school in time for doughnuts.
“When we walked into the library, there were a whole bunch of men, and a lot of them were cheering,” Vasquez told ABC News.
“Elijah was just smiling really big. It was a lot of fun, and of course, we got doughnuts!”
