Football Paper Round: Man Utd face delay over Zlatan Ibrahimovic deal
According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are happy to wait
to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic until July so he is eligible for a big
loyalty bonus at Paris Saint-Germain,
the club he has already announced he is leaving. The paper explains:
"The 34-year-old and his agent, Mino Raiola, have held
positive talks
with United about signing for manager Jose Mourinho
at Old Trafford, but there is a lucrative reason why the pair may be
keen to hold off on confirming the deal. Ibrahimovic and Raiola are both
due a large loyalty bonus from PSG should the forward see out his
contract, which formally expires on June 30. At that point, Ibrahimovic
officially becomes a free agent and United are prepared to hand him a
one-year contract worth £250,000 a week, with the option of a further 12
months."
Nemanja Matic tells Chelsea he wants to join Mourinho at United
Chelsea midfield maestro Nemanja Matic has told the club he
wants to join Manchester United, according to the Sun. The Serbian
defensive midfielder has told the club that he wants to be reunited with
Jose Mourinho, who brought him back to Stamford Bridge when he rejoined
the club in 2013. As both player and United manager are open to the
move, Chelsea may have to face moving on another star, as the futures of
Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Willian and Oscar are also up in the air.
Manchester City are in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund over striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang,
according to the Daily Mail. The report says that City are on the verge
of breaking their club transfer record, potentially splashing out £58
million for the Gabon international. Aubameyang found the back of the
net 40 times last season, with Barcelona and Real Madrid
also interested in his services. According to the report, City are
leading the race for his signature, as both Liga giants won't be parting
with their strikers.
Chelsea targeting Kwadwo Asamoah from Juventus
Antonio Conte is seeking a reunion with Juventus wingback Kwadwo Asamoah, according to the Mirror. Asamoah signed for Juventus in 2012 from Udinese
under Conte, who was a big fan of the overlapping and powerful Ghanaian
defender. Chelsea however may have some competition, as Athletic Bilbao are also targeting the 27-year-old. who's believed to be worth about £15 million on the open market.
Tottenham set to seal Vincent Janssen deal for £12 million
AZ Alkmaar's scoring hotshot Vincent Janssen is likely on his
way to Tottenham, according to the Mirror. The report says that AZ
Alkmaar have agreed to a fee for the 21-year-old, with Tottenham left to
discuss personal terms to seal the transfer. Janssen scored 27 times in
34 matches for Alkmaar this season in the Eredivisie, topping the
scoring leaderboard and turning heads at both Atletico Madrid and AC Milan. Janssen, however, wants a move to the Premier League, and will now likely join Tottenham's Champions League campaign as Harry Kane's stand-in.
