Clinton sweeps Virgin Islands, moves a step closer to nomination

US: US Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton recorded a sweeping win in Virgin Islands on Saturday, clearing all seven delegates at stake as she gets closer to the Democratic presidential nomination ticket.
Clinton is now 60 delegates away from the 2383 delegates required to proceeds to the general election in November.
In a statement by the party, it said Clinton acquired 84.2 per cent of the vote, against Bernie Sanders 12.2 per cent.
It is the biggest margin of victory for a Democratic candidate in the Virgin Islands caucus since 2008, when Barack Obama defeated Clinton 90 per cent to 8 per cent.
Clinton now has 1776 delegates to Sanders’ 1501 based on primaries and caucuses alone.
But her lead presently stands at 2323 to Sanders 1547 when super-delegates, or party leaders who can support any candidate is included.
