Egypt head coach collapses while trying to stop fight between his two wives
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has reportedly fainted after a confrontation between his two wives allegedly erupted into a physical fight at a luxury hotel on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast.
The incident reportedly occurred at Porto Marina, where Hassan was spending a holiday when an argument between his first wife, Howaida Al-Gharbawi, and his second wife, Dina “Dan Adam” Mustafa, allegedly escalated into a fight at a hotel bar.
According to reports, the confrontation, which reportedly involved hair-pulling and physical blows, unfolded in front of other holidaymakers. Relatives reportedly intervened before hotel security was called.
Both women were said to have sustained cuts and bruises.Reports differ over Hassan’s health
The dramatic confrontation reportedly took a toll on the Egypt manager, with Al Arabiya reporting that Hassan fainted while attempting to intervene.
However, his lawyer subsequently disputed reports that the former footballer had suffered a serious health crisis, telling Sky News Arabia that Hassan was in good health.
The incident has nevertheless had major consequences for Hassan's personal life.First marriage reportedly ends
Following the confrontation, Hassan is reported to have formally divorced his first wife, Howaida.
He reportedly signed the divorce documents at a legal registrar's office in Cairo, ending a marriage that had lasted for decades and produced three children.
Howaida's family lawyer, Ahmed Hamad, declined to discuss the circumstances surrounding the separation, saying the family had chosen to remain silent.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Shams, legal representative for Hassan's second wife, said: “We hoped it wouldn’t come to divorce, but things escalated to this level.”Shams also alleged that Dan Adam had been the victim of a “premeditated attack” during the holiday.
Hassan married second wife in 2015
Hassan married Dan Adam in 2015, while he was still married to Howaida. The couple reportedly separated briefly in 2022 before later reconciling.
Egyptian law allows a Muslim man to have up to four wives simultaneously, meaning Hassan's second marriage was legally permissible while his first marriage remained in place.
The reported Porto Marina confrontation, however, appears to have brought Hassan's decades-long first marriage to an abrupt end, while differing accounts over the incident and his health continue to circulate.
