Davido fires back at Okpebholo’s shade, shares WAEC result

Afrobeats star Davido has hit back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor repeatedly mocked his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over his well-known love of dancing.

The latest exchange has shifted the spotlight from Adeleke’s dancing to Okpebholo’s academic credentials, after Davido shared a purported West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result attributed to the Edo governor.

Okpebholo had taken several shots at Adeleke during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Osun ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The Edo governor questioned whether Osun residents were tired of seeing Adeleke dance and suggested that the Osun governor could find work as a dancer after losing his bid for re-election.

At the rally, Okpebholo also directly challenged Davido, telling the singer to employ his uncle as a dancer.

The remarks prompted a response from Davido, who chose not to defend Adeleke’s dancing. Instead, he appeared to turn the political spotlight back on Okpebholo by posting a document purported to be the governor’s WAEC result.

The document circulating online appears to show several poor grades and has triggered questions about Okpebholo’s educational qualifications.

However, the authenticity of the document has not been independently established, and its circulation alone does not prove that it belongs to the Edo governor.

Davido’s move nevertheless represents a sharp escalation in the social-media battle surrounding the Osun election, where the singer has become an outspoken supporter of Adeleke’s bid for a second term.

The feud began with Okpebholo’s attacks on Adeleke’s dancing but has now expanded into a public exchange touching on political performance, personal achievements and academic credentials.

For Davido, the message was clear: if the Edo governor wanted to make Adeleke’s dancing part of the Osun campaign conversation, the singer was prepared to shift attention to a different record altogether.
