Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has argued that relocating abroad later in life may not be a practical decision, particularly for individuals in their 50s.

According to him, migration at that stage often comes with the challenge of rebuilding one's life from scratch, leaving limited time to reap the long-term benefits of such a move.

Sharing his perspective in a video, the musician maintained that international relocation is better suited to younger people who have more years ahead to establish themselves professionally and financially.

He said: “Nigerians in their 50s have no business saying they’re relocating abroad. What are you going there to do? By the time you start seeing the rewards of your hustle, it is too late. Relocating abroad is mostly for young people in their 20s.”

Expanding on his position, Speed Darlington noted that people in their 20s are generally better placed to adapt to a new environment, develop their careers, and gradually enjoy the returns on their efforts. In contrast, he suggested that making such a significant transition much later in life offers fewer advantages, as the time required to establish a stable footing abroad may outweigh the potential rewards.
