Portable slams Oluwo of Iwo over VeryDarkMan’s chieftaincy title

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has criticised the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, over the decision to confer a traditional chieftaincy title on social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM)
.

The monarch recently honoured VeryDarkMan with the title of Atayese of Yorubaland during a ceremony held at his palace in Iwo, Osun State.

Reacting to the development in a video shared on social media, Portable questioned the monarch's decision, arguing that the activist did not merit the honour.

Speaking in Yoruba, the singer also made disparaging remarks about both the traditional ruler and VeryDarkMan.

"Who gave you the authority to confer another man with a title? Why would you give VeryDarkMan a chieftaincy title? He is a porn star, for that matter. I hope there's nothing between the two of you. There was a time you were insulting the Ooni of Ife. Who are you again?" Portable said.

The singer further criticised the Oluwo's traditional credentials while questioning VeryDarkMan's contributions to society.

"You are a king who didn't properly observe traditional rites. Whose life has VeryDarkMan transformed to deserve such a title, 'Atayese'?" he added.

Neither the Oluwo of Iwo nor VeryDarkMan had publicly responded to Portable's comments as of the time of filing this report.
