"Fufu is now dragging size with egg": X viral post claims

Social media is buzzing after a viral post jokingly claimed that fufu, one of Nigeria's most beloved and affordable staple meals, has become so expensive that it's now being served in smaller "size" similar to an egg.

The post, shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user, humorously reads: "Fufu is now drag size with egg and you guys keep quiet."

The statement quickly sparked laughter and debate, with many Nigerians saying it reflects the country's rising cost of living. While the post is clearly satirical, it resonates with many who have noticed shrinking food portions and increasing prices at local eateries.

Some users joked that: "Soon they'll sell fufu by the slice." "One swallow, one destiny." "The economy has put everyone on a diet."

Others pointed out that fufu has traditionally been one of the most affordable meals for students and low-income earners, making the joke hit even harder. In many parts of Nigeria, a generous wrap of fufu with soup used to be a budget-friendly option, but inflation has driven up the prices of cassava, yam, transportation, and other essentials.
