Kano State Hisbah bans downloading, distribution of movies on mobile phones

The Kano State Hisbah Board has banned the downloading and distribution of movies through mobile phones across the state as part of efforts to protect public morality and uphold Islamic values.

The directive, which takes immediate effect across the state's 44 local government areas, was announced on Thursday in a WhatsApp message by the Deputy Commander General of the board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen.

According to Aminuddeen, the decision was prompted by complaints that some operators engaged in the business were distributing pornographic films and other video content deemed contrary to Islamic teachings and the cultural values of Kano State.

"The Hisbah Board has banned the downloading and distribution of movies through mobile phones across the 44 local government areas in the state," he said.

He warned that the board had deployed its personnel to enforce the directive and ensure full compliance across the state.

The Hisbah Board, which is responsible for enforcing Sharia-related regulations in Kano State, said the measure forms part of its ongoing efforts to curb the circulation of objectionable content and promote moral standards in line with Islamic principles.
