I don’t want to go to Nigeria, is it by force?, Chidimma responds to calls to leave South Africa
Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has responded to persistent calls urging her to relocate from South Africa to Nigeria, insisting that the decision about where she lives rests with her alone.
The beauty queen, whose residency status remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings in South Africa, expressed frustration over repeated comments from social media users telling her to leave the country. Responding to one follower who urged her to "go home" to Nigeria, Adetshina dismissed the suggestion, stressing that she had no intention of making the move simply because others expected it.
She wrote: “I said I don’t want to… Ah ah, its it by force?”
In a separate remark, she appealed for understanding, saying the constant criticism was adding to an already difficult period in her life. “Stop frustrating my life.”
Adetshina indicated that her priority remains resolving the legal issues surrounding her residency rather than engaging in public debates over where she should live.
Her residency status has been under scrutiny since last year after South African authorities questioned the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of her citizenship documents. The controversy ultimately led to her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant.
Following her exit from the competition, Adetshina accepted an invitation to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she emerged as the winner and earned the national title.
Despite her success in Nigeria, the legal proceedings concerning her residency status in South Africa remain ongoing.
