Netanyahu announces Isreali’s New Front to protect Christians in Nigeria, Turkey, Syria
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will open a “new front” aimed at protecting Christian communities in parts of Africa and the Middle East, including Nigeria.
Netanyahu made the declaration in a speech on Wednesday, later published on the official YouTube channel of the Israeli Prime Minister.
Addressing an audience of Christian Zionists, he said Israel was expanding its focus beyond military engagements to counter what he described as growing global threats to Judeo-Christian values.
He recalled Israel’s recent “seven-front war,” which he said the country had largely overcome, but noted that a new challenge had emerged. This new front, according to Netanyahu, is focused on shaping public opinion, particularly among young people, in what he called a battle for “hearts and minds.”
“I see the battle against us and the battle against our Judeo-Christian tradition basically being waged around the globe,” he said.
Netanyahu identified “radical Shiite Islam and radical Sunni Islam” as the main forces behind this global challenge, citing Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood as leading opposing axes. He added that the threat extends beyond Israel, affecting allies such as the United States and what he described as Western civilization.
Highlighting the plight of Christians, Netanyahu said Israel was aware that Christian communities face persecution in countries including Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Turkey. He claimed Israel is uniquely positioned to protect and support these communities.
The Israeli Prime Minister further announced plans to establish a coalition of countries, modeled on a United Nations framework, aimed at supporting Christian communities worldwide, particularly those facing persecution.
