We’ll stop all aids to Nigeria – Trump issues another warning

We will stop all aids to Nigeria - Trump issues another warning Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Nigeria, intensifying his earlier remarks about the alleged persecution of Christians in the country.

Speaking from his podium in Washington, the U.S. President declared:

“If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killings of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria. We are going to do things to Nigeria that Nigeria is not going to be happy about.”

The statement marks Trump’s second public threat in less than a week, following his initial comments accusing Nigerian authorities of ignoring violence against Christians.

His administration has since confirmed that Nigeria has been designated a “Country of Particular Concern” over religious freedom violations, a move that could trigger sanctions or military restrictions.

According to reports, Trump has instructed the Department of Defense to prepare for “possible actions” should the situation worsen. The declaration has drawn sharp reactions across the international community, with human rights groups calling for restraint and dialogue instead of punitive measures.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, swiftly dismissed the allegations, insisting that “state-backed religious persecution is impossible under Nigeria’s laws and constitution.” He maintained that the country’s conflicts are driven by ethnic and criminal motives rather than religion.

Analysts warn that Trump’s latest threat could strain U.S.-Nigeria relations, with some observers arguing that his approach risks oversimplifying the complex causes of violence in parts of the country. Others believe his stance could push Abuja to take stronger internal actions to address insecurity.
