Two Pakistani men kidnaped fellow country man in north Cyprus

Two men, have been brought before a Lefkoşa court on charges of kidnapping and causing serious bodily harm. 

During the hearing, the police stated that the suspects, identified as AB and SZ along with five other individuals of Pakistani origin whose identities are yet to be confirmed, abducted one M.H., a resident of Lefkoşa, on the night of 6 September 2025.

According to police testimony, the suspects assaulted M.H. at a residence in Alsancak, claiming that he owed them €80,000. The victim was then forced into a vehicle and taken to Kırıkale village, where he was allegedly beaten again and held against his will.

Police confirmed that AB and SZ were arrested on 8 September 2025, while efforts to locate the five other suspects are ongoing. Investigators are currently reviewing witness statements and security camera footage as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Citing the early stage of the investigation, police requested additional time for further inquiries. After considering the evidence presented, the judge ordered that both suspects remain in police custody for a further three days.

The case remains under active investigation.
