Man wanted in north Cyprus since 2010 for car theft arrested on return to the country
A man who had been on the run for 15 years over charges of forgery and vehicle theft has been arrested upon entering the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) through the Kyrenia Tourism Port.
The suspect, identified as M.B. (51), was wanted in connection with an incident that took place on 7 June 2010 in Gazimağusa. At the time, M.B., who was employed at a local workplace, allegedly took a car belonging to another individual without the owner’s permission. He then falsely claimed ownership of the vehicle and sold it to another person for 2,900 TL, thereby obtaining money through fraudulent means.
Police confirmed that M.B. was detained yesterday at Kyrenia Tourism Port when he attempted to re-enter the country.
Authorities stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
