Student caught with 25 grams of drugs Seized in north Cyprus

A foreign national has been remanded in custody for three days after police seized approximately 25 grams of drugs during an operation in Lefkoşa.

The suspect, identified as JFK, a foreign student in north Cyprus was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics and appeared before the Lefkoşa District Court on Monday.

According to police testimony, on 24 August 2025, teams from the Crime Prevention Unit and the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Department carried out an operation in Lefkoşa. During the search, officers found 39 foil packets containing around 25 grams of narcotics, believed to be prepared for sale. The drugs were confiscated as evidence, and Koudıou was taken into custody.

The police said the seized substances will be sent for laboratory analysis, while investigators will continue to take witness statements and trace the source of the drugs.

The judge granted the police request, ordering the suspect to remain in custody for three days to allow the investigation to continue.
