North Cyprus police wants volunteer informants to help tackle traffic offenders
The north Cyprus Police General Directorate has announced a new volunteer-based initiative aimed at improving traffic safety and encouraging public participation in reducing dangerous driving incidents.
The program, which will operate on a voluntary basis, is designed to foster cooperation between police and citizens in the fight against traffic violations and accidents. Volunteers will receive training on traffic safety before being authorized to report incidents they witness on the roads to the Police General Directorate.
Officials stated that the project will allow the community and law enforcement to work hand in hand, taking collective action against reckless driving and contributing to safer roads across the country.

To participate in the program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)
Be between the ages of 30 and 65
Hold at least a high school diploma

Have a clean criminal record and no history of disgraceful offenses
Have no prior convictions for driving under the influence or driving without a license

The Police General Directorate emphasized that the initiative seeks to build a culture of shared responsibility on the roads, ensuring that both authorities and citizens contribute to safer driving conditions.
