Passengers aboard Pegasus Airlines flight PC1954 from Trabzon to Ercan experienced tense moments on Saturday when the aircraft encountered difficulties during landing at Ercan International Airport.
The flight, which departed Trabzon at 12:45, attempted to land three times before being forced to abort each descent and take off again. It was only on the fourth attempt that the aircraft managed to touch down safely.
According to passenger accounts, a strong burning odor spread through the cabin during the landing attempts, causing alarm among travelers. Adding to the confusion, reports suggested that another aircraft’s uncontrolled approach to the runway combined with strong crosswinds created further challenges for the Pegasus crew.
Among the passengers was Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel (LAÇ) Mayor Fırat Ataser, who described the harrowing experience:
“The plane tried to land four times but couldn’t. We went through very frightening moments. We received no explanation from the crew or officials. Someone outside claimed the aircraft had a malfunction, but that is the only information we heard,” he told reporters.
However, civil aviation authorities later confirmed that no technical malfunction had been reported regarding the aircraft.
Despite the ordeal, the flight eventually landed safely, and no injuries were reported.
