Nigerian national declared banned immigrant in northern Cyprus for behavior deemed threatening to public order and the government

Lefkoşa, Cyprus
 — The Council of Ministers has officially declared a Nigerian national identified only as JAS, as a prohibited immigrant in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The decision was made in light of a security report submitted by the Police General Directorate.

According to the report, the individual was found to have engaged in behavior deemed threatening to public order, administrative structure, and general morality.

Authorities also cited concerns that his actions could incite hostility among the public towards the state, or pose a risk of subversion against the authority and power of the TRNC government.

After evaluating the evidence and findings, the Council acted in accordance with Article 6(1)(g) of Chapter 105 of the Aliens and Immigration Law, which provides grounds for declaring individuals as prohibited immigrants under such circumstances.

The decision was formally recorded on July 30, 2025, under Council Decision Number Ü(K-I)1515-2025.
