Water and electricity outages announced in Gazimağusa, Lefkoşa, Girne, and Güzelyurt due to maintenance works
22 July 2025 – Cyprus — Authorities have announced planned interruptions to water and electricity supply in several cities across Northern Cyprus due to essential maintenance work.
The Municipality of Gazimağusa has informed the public that maintenance and repair work at the city’s Main Water Reservoir will result in a city-wide water outage on Wednesday, 23 July 2025.
In an official statement, the municipality noted that water flow will be restored once maintenance activities are completed. Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions ahead of the disruption to avoid inconvenience.
“We respectfully ask our residents to take all necessary measures in advance to minimize any disruptions,” the municipality said.
Scheduled Power Outage in Lefkoşa, Girne, and Güzelyurt
Meanwhile, the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) has announced that a temporary power outage will occur today, Tuesday 22 July, in several areas of Lefkoşa, Girne, and Güzelyurt between 18:00 and 19:30, due to urgent repair work on a high-voltage power line.
KIB-TEK emphasized that the timing may vary based on the progress of the work, and citizens are advised to treat all electrical lines as live at all times.
Affected Areas Include:
Lefkoşa–Girne line and surrounding areas:
Boğazköy Village, Boğaz Junction, Hediyem Su, St. Hilarion, G.K.K. Headquarters, Ağırdağ, Asok Villas, Upper Dikmen and surrounding areas, Taşkent, Güngör and Stone Quarries, Dağyolu, Pınarbaşı, Kömürcü.
Girne and surroundings:
Girne Police Department, Ciklos, Doğanköy, Girne Marina, Port and Market areas, Dome, Rocks, Colony, Savoy Hotels vicinity, Akpınar roundabout, 20 Temmuz Stadium, near GAÜ, Zeytinlik, K’oğlu area, Jasmine Court, Patara Site, Ship Hotel, Topset Hotel, Karmi (Karaman), Edremit, Hideaway Club, Meriç Erülkü Site, Girne Teachers’ House, Akçiçek Hospital, and Girne Social Housing.
Güzelyurt and surroundings:
Gürpınar, Yılmazköy, Serhatköy, Gayretköy, Şahinler, Mevlevi, Türkeli, Alayköy, Serhatköy Water Pump Station, Türkeli Junction to Zet Karting facilities, Metehan Border Gate, and various areas along the Lefkoşa-Güzelyurt highway.
KIB-TEK apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents to take necessary measures to reduce disruption during the outage.
