Theft at betting shop in Gazimağusa: One arrested
Gazimağusa, 22 July 2025 — A theft at a betting shop in Gazimağusa has led to the arrest of a 49-year-old suspect, local police have confirmed.
The incident, which took place on the evening of 21 July at around 19:30, involved the theft of a bag left unattended on a table.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the stolen bag contained 1,130 TL in cash, along with a personal identification card and a driver's license. The theft occurred at a betting establishment operating within the city.
Following an immediate police investigation, authorities identified and arrested the suspect, I.G. (male, 49).
The investigation is still ongoing as police work to determine whether the suspect acted alone and to recover the stolen items.
Authorities have once again reminded the public to be vigilant with their personal belongings in public places.
