Three arrested in major drug bust in Lefkoşa: 75 grams of cocaine and 35 pills seized

A coordinated operation by the Lefkoşa Crime Prevention Branch and the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate led to the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs.

The suspects, identified as E.S., M.B.Ç., and A.S.E., were brought before the Lefkoşa District Court and remanded in custody for two days as investigations continue.

The police told the court that on July 1, 2025, at around 11:40 AM, narcotics teams observed suspect E.S. behaving suspiciously in a vehicle in Ortaköy. Upon noticing the police, E.S. was seen throwing a nylon bag out of the car window. Officers quickly retrieved the bag, which was found to contain 50 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine. E.S. was immediately taken into custody.

Drugs and Pills Found in Home Searches

Subsequent searches of E.S.’s residence in Ortaköy uncovered an additional 25 grams of suspected cocaine and 35 tablets believed to be narcotics. During questioning, E.S. reportedly confessed that he had stored the drugs at the homes of co-suspects M.B.Ç. and A.S.E., who allegedly delivered the narcotics to his residence on June 30.

Following these revelations, both M.B.Ç. and A.S.E. were also arrested. Police searches of M.B.Ç.’s home in Kızılbaş uncovered drug-related paraphernalia, including a metal plate with suspected drug residue, two cards, and small-denomination banknotes. At E.S.E.’s residence in Köşklüçiftlik, additional banknotes believed to be contaminated with drug residue were seized.

Two More Suspects Sought

Police noted that both E.S. and A.S.E. provided voluntary statements admitting their involvement. Officer Durukan emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, with the seized substances sent for laboratory analysis. He also revealed that two more individuals believed to have supplied the cocaine and pills to E.S. are currently being sought.

The investigation includes reviewing surveillance footage and obtaining further witness statements. Given these ongoing efforts, police requested an extension of the suspects’ detention to prevent interference with the inquiry.

After evaluating the evidence, the judge granted the police request, ordering that the three suspects remain in custody for an additional two days.
