Man bites police officer during arrest in Cyprus
A 31-year-old man was arrested by bicycle police officers in Larnaca on Friday afternoon after becoming aggressive during a routine check, ultimately biting one of the officers on the hand, police said on Saturday.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle uncovered a 9cm knife in his possession. Authorities also discovered he was driving without a valid driver’s licence or insurance.
Further investigation revealed that the man had initially provided false identification details, leading to a second arrest.
He appeared before the Larnaca District Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody for two days.
This incident comes shortly after a similar case in Limassol earlier in the week, where a bicycle officer was also bitten during an arrest.
