Drivers fined for blocking ambulance during wedding convoy in Gazimağusa

Four drivers who obstructed traffic and blocked an ambulance during a wedding convoy in Gazimağusa have been fined following an investigation by local traffic police.

The incident occurred on Polatpaşa Boulevard, where the drivers parked their vehicles haphazardly in the middle of the road, preventing other vehicles—and critically, an ambulance—from passing. Footage of the dangerous obstruction circulated widely on social media, prompting immediate action from the Gazimağusa Police Department’s traffic division.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, three drivers who parked their cars in a way that blocked the road and delayed the ambulance were each fined 8,693.80 Turkish lira and issued 10 penalty points. Another driver, who both blocked the road and engaged in reckless driving, received a fine of 10,867.25 Turkish lira and 25 penalty points.

Police emphasized that obstructing emergency vehicles endangers lives and will not be tolerated.
