Lefkosa, North Cyprus – A man has been arrested for breaching a restraining order issued by the Lefkosia Family Court, which prohibited him from approaching his estranged wife.
The incident occurred on May 13, 2025, when the suspect identified as İS allegedly visited his wife's residence in the Ortaköy area of Lefkosia, in defiance of the court’s protection order.
Police officer who presented the case in court, stated that the suspect had been legally ordered to stay at least 200 meters away from his wife and was explicitly barred from entering her home. Despite this, he reportedly went to the property around 8:00 PM on the evening in question.
Following a complaint filed by the woman, an investigation was launched, confirming that the restraining order was still in effect. The suspect was located and arrested in Lefkosia later that day.
The court also heard that the suspect had previously been arrested on April 20, 2015, for a similar offense and was released on bail the following day.
During the hearing, the suspect’s attorney stated that the couple's divorce hearing is scheduled for June 24, and that his client had gone to the home in an effort to reconcile and save the marriage.
The judge after reviewing the testimony, imposed several conditions for the suspect’s release pending trial. These include a travel ban, the deposit of 20,000 TL in cash bail, the signing of a 200,000 TL surety bond by one guarantor, and mandatory weekly check-ins with the local police.
The investigation has been concluded, and the legal proceedings are set to continue.
