Man chases wife and daughter with a knife in Lapta

Lapta, TRNC: A man identified as only as BS has been arrested and brought before the court on multiple charges, including threat of violence, illegal possession of a knife, and public verbal abuse, after allegedly chasing his wife and daughter with a knife in Lapta.

The police in a court statement stated that the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2025, in an apartment building on Dumlupınar Street in Alsancak when the suspect became aggressive after his wife and daughter refused to continue living with him.

The suspect allegedly chased them through the stairwell with an illegally possessed knife, threatening them by shouting, “I will kill you.” After the victims fled the building, the susect reportedly shouted insults and threats from the window of his apartment loud enough to be heard in the surrounding public area.

While the knife itself has not yet been recovered, police confirmed the existence of photo evidence showing the suspect holding a knife, as well as surveillance footage from the scene. Both the suspect’s wife and daughter reportedly captured images during the incident.

Based on the evidence and the ongoing nature of the investigation, the police requested that the suspect remain in custody. 

After reviewing the testimony and evidence, the judge ordered that the suspect be remanded in police custody for three more days.
