Man arrested for allegedly stealing over 11,000 TL from parked car

Lapta, TRNC: A man identified as SK has been remanded in custody for three days following allegations that he stole 11,200 TL from a parked car outside a supermarket in Lapta.

According to testimony presented in court by the police, the incident occurred around 10:10 a.m. on May 9, 2025, in the parking lot of Bestmar Market in Alsancak. 

The suspect is accused of stealing cash from a vehicle owned by one OEO, a student resident in Karaoğlanoğlu. The car, which was parked with its front window left open, reportedly contained the stolen sum inside.

Following a complaint lodged shortly after the incident, police were able to identify and arrest the suspect on the same day.

The police informed the court that the investigation is still in its early stages, with witness statements pending and security camera footage yet to be reviewed. On these grounds, police requested additional time to complete the investigation.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge approved the request and ordered that the suspect remain in police custody for three more days.

The investigation remains ongoing.
