Individual discovered living illegally in Northern Cyprus for over three years faces deportation
LEFKOŞA — An individual identified as K.C.O. has been arrested and brought before the court after authorities determined that he had been living illegally in the northern part of Cyprus for more than three years.
Police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and that deportation proceedings have been initiated.
Police officer who presented the case details in court, stated that on October 13, 2025, during routine inspections conducted by the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Department in Hamitköy, it was discovered that the suspect had been residing in Northern Cyprus without authorization since October 18, 2022 — a total of 1,121 days.
Following this discovery, the suspect was arrested and a formal investigation was launched. Authorities are currently examining where and under what circumstances the individual resided during this period, as well as whether any criminal activity occurred while he was living undocumented.
The police also informed the court that the deportation process has commenced and requested that the suspect remain in custody for an additional two days to allow the investigation to proceed.
The presiding judge granted the request, ordering the suspect to be held in custody for another 48 hours.
