An EasyJet flight traveling from Türkiye to Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, after a passenger caused panic by shouting about a bomb and attempting to open an emergency exit.
The disturbance began shortly after takeoff, according to eyewitnesses, when a female passenger began screaming that there was a bomb on board and that the plane was going to crash. She then reportedly ran down the aisle, trying to access the emergency exit and tampering with life jackets and oxygen masks.
“A woman suddenly started screaming that there was a bomb and the plane was going to crash,” a passenger seated near the emergency exits told the Manchester Evening News. “She ran toward the emergency doors and tried to open them.”
Cabin crew, assisted by passengers, were able to restrain the woman and move her away from the exit before she could do further harm. The pilot diverted the aircraft to Frankfurt, where it landed safely.
German authorities detained the woman upon arrival. No injuries were reported, and all passengers were evacuated safely. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the woman's intent and whether there was any credible threat to the flight.
EasyJet has not yet issued a formal statement on the event.
