Driver caught using mobile phone while driving in Famagusta attempts to bribe the police with US100
A man has been arrested in Gazimağusa after being caught using his mobile phone while driving and subsequently attempting to bribe a police officer to avoid a fine.
According to a statement from the police, the incident occurred around 1:00 PM on Tuesday April 29 on İsmet İnönü Boulevard.
The suspect, identified as C.Y. (male, 39), was stopped by a traffic officer from the Gazimağusa Police Department’s Traffic Division after he was observed using a mobile phone while operating his vehicle.
Upon being confronted, C.Y. allegedly offered the officer a bribe of 100 US dollars in an effort to avoid being issued a fine.
The police confirmed that the suspect was immediately arrested and is now in custody pending further legal proceedings.
