22-Year-old nabbed for robbery in Lefkosa

A 22-year-old has been arrested for breaking into a house and theft in Lefkosa.

According to police report, the suspect identified as Peeran Ditta, 22 reportedly broke into a house in Çatalköy, Lefkosa at about 12:30am on Friday last week.

Police said the suspect went to the residence of a 74-year-old man, knocked on the door and entered the house with force after the subject person opened the door. When inside, he threatened the landlord with a scissor, battered him and stole £20 in cash. 

Police investigation revealed that the suspect was also responsible for a theft that took place in the same area a while ago.

The investigation also showed the suspect had stolen 400 TL cash and 6,500 TL worth of jewelery from the residence of a British national, Lynn Hugles who lives on the same street.

The police investigation into the incident continues.
