Arsenal hubles Bayern at the International Champions Cup
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah
hammered a late goal to see Arsenal edge Bayern Munich 2-1 at the International
Champions Cup on Wednesday 17th of July 2019.
With two minutes left
from normal time Nketiah tapped in a winner for the Premier League outfit at
Dignity Health Sports Park in California.A strong Arsenal line-up took the lead
early in the second half when Bayern defender Louis Poznanski scored an own
goal.
But the German giants
equalised through Robert Lewandowski, who struck with a brilliant header in the
71st minute. However, Nketiah would claim a win for Arsenal with a late tap-in
after the contest opened up in the final half-hour.
The Gunners had pressed
Bayern early on, with Aubameyang almost forcing a calamitous error from Manuel
Neuer: the Bayern goalkeeper attempted to dribble past the forward on the edge
of his six-yard box, lost possession, but then smothered the danger.
The Spanish coach opted
for an experienced lineup at Dignity Health Sports Park, with the likes of
Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh
Mkhitaryan in attack.
