85-year-old man severely injured after fire broke out in his apartment in Yeşilyurt, north Cyprus

There was fire out break in a house belonging to a 85-year-old man at Ekizer Street, in Yeşilyurt early Friday morning.

According to police report, the fire incident happened at about 6:00am on Friday.

Fire crew from Güzelyurt and Gemikonağı quickly arrived the scene and helped put it under control.

Neighbors were alerted to the incident when they heard sound of explosions coming from the house owned by a 85-year-old man identified as Nazim Önen.

The man who live alone in the house was injured in various parts of his body. He was taken to the Lefkosa Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital.

Several properties were damaged by the fire.

According to police report, the fire occurred as a result of a possible gas leakage in the kitchen.
