13-year-old boy allegedly stabbed 9-year-old sister to death in south Cyprus

A nine-year-old girl from Romania was allegedly killed by her 13-year-old brother in Larnaca, south Cyprus on Tuesday evening.

Police were notified about the incident at around 5pm on Tuesday and at arrival at the family home, they found the girl with knife wounds.

She was then taken by ambulance to Larnaca general where doctors pronounced her dead.

According to police report, the girl was allegedly stabbed by her 13-year-old brother while they were both at home. She was found in a pool of blood by her father.

She was severely injured in her back.

The boy reportedly faces psychological problems and was expelled from school last year due to delinquent behaviour.

He reportedly stabbed his sister during an argument, the report adds.

A report by Greek Cypriot daily, Politis, say the 13-year-old was being questioned by the Larnaca CID but was not arrested as he is under 14, which is the age of criminal responsibility.

The two children were staying with their father after their parents’ separation. They have been living in the same Larnaca neighbourhood for the past three years. The family moved to Cyprus from Romania several years ago.
