Turkish Cypriots head to polls on Sunday to elect new leaders

Turkish Cypriots will head to the polls on Sunday January, 7 to elect their new legislative members.
 
All is now set for Sunday general election as modalities has been put in place by the North Cyprus electoral body.

Campaign will end on Saturday evening while the electorate do the talking on Sunday.

50 people will be elected into the legislative assembly.

According to information released by the head of the TRNC High Electoral Council Narin Şefik, ballot stations will remain open until 6pm, longer than previous elections.

She also said that unofficial results may be announced by Monday morning and official results by Tuesday the latest.

The results will be announced via a website to be opened by the Near East University and a screen to be set up at the High Electoral Council.
