TRNC Central Bank announces deadline for accepting old £10

The Central Bank of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus has announced that the old series of £10 will no longer be accepted in the country by February ending.

According to a statement released by the TRCN Central Bank earlier in the week, the Bank of England announced that they will be taking the old paper £10 away from circulation on March, 1, 2018, therefore the TRNC Central Bank has announced February, 26 as it deadline for accepting such notes for exchange.

It adds that the date will not change and called on banks to comply.

The Bank of England new £10 note, also known as a tenner, is a banknote of the pound sterling. It is the second-lowest denomination of banknote issued by the Bank of England. The current polymer note, first issued in 2017, bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the image of author Jane Austen on the reverse. It will fully replace the cotton paper note featuring a portrait of naturalist Charles Darwin, first issued in 2000.
