North Cyprus Election: Results out as National Unity Party emerged victorious

Election into the TRNC parliament was held on Sunday and following the announcement of results on Tuesday, the National Unity Party emerged victorious.

Leader of the National Unity Party, Hüseyin Özgürgün in statement to state media, BRT thanked the Turkish Cypriot people for the support that they have given to the Party and reiterated it was the party’s main aim to serve the people adding that the people had once again given his party a great responsibility that he did not take lightly.

He said that his party will take on this responsibility and ensure that the country progresses even further to a prosperous future.

Also leader of the Republican Turkish Party Tufan Erhürman thanked the Turkish Cypriot people for the support but expressed his disappointment over his party's failure to reach the outcome they had hope for but that they respected the peoples decisions.

He said that as the Republican Turkish Party they would continue their fight together.

Also leader of the Democrat Party Serdar Denktaş congratulated the National Unity Party on its success in a press briefing at the DP headquarters to evaluate the outcome of the election on Monday. According to him, the Democrat Party did not deserve the outcome that was achieved.
