Greek Cypriots heads to polls today to elect a new president

Greek Cypriots will be heading to the polls today to elect a new president.

Five candidates will be vying for the seat of the president and favourite to win the election is incumbent President Nicos Anastasiades. This would be his second and last term in office, if he wins.

However, he is expected to face a run-off on 4 February against either communist-backed Stavros Malas or Nicolas Papadopoulos, a former president’s son.
