Help save Halime's life as she urgently seeks a bone marrow donor

A 9-year-old girl named Halime Gezer who was diagnosed with leukemia in March and has been undergoing chemotherapy at the Gazi University Hospital in Ankara is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant.

Halime has been treated at the Oncology Centre in Lefkosa since November.

So far, following an appeal for donors in Cyprus, her doctors have not found an appropriate donor locally and will need to extend their search abroad.

Her father, Suleyman Gezer, who said that the donor compatibility test was made by taking samples from an oral swab, noting that potential donors should be 18-45 years old.

Citizens who want to donate can go to the Kemal Saratsoglou Foundation for Children with Leukemia and Cancer Warfare Foundation in Lefkosa between the hours of 08.30am to 16.30pm every weekday.

Additionally, a request for a donor has been filed at the Karaiskakio foundation in south Nicosia through Turkish Cypriot Kemal Saratsoglou foundation.

A Facebook page has been created for donors to seek more information and help.
