US election 2016: Donald Trump takes early lead, 'wins Ohio, Florida'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is currently taking the lead against Democratic opponent Hilary Clinton in several key states as the race for the White House reaches its climax.

According to reports by Al Jazeera, projections show Trump winning the battleground states of Ohio, Florida and North Carolina - three key states in the race for the presidency. 

Hillary Clinton won Virginia, Colorado and California but here ares till a handful of other battleground states still to be decided as neither candidate had cleared the 270 Electoral College votes required to win the race.

Clinton wins:
Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, California, Virginia, New Mexico, Illinois, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, Delaware and the District of Columbia
Trump wins:
Utah, Iowa, Georgia, Wyoming, North Carolina, Idaho, Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Montana, Louisiana, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana
