Philippines' president, Rodrigo Duterte to stop quarrels with U.S. after Trump election

Following Donald Trump's victory at the polls on Wednesday, Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has said he does not wish to continue fighting with the US.

Duterte who was on a two-day official visit to Malaysia on Wednesday congratulated the US president-elect Donald Trump and stressed the similarities between Trump and himself.
"I would like to congratulate Mr Donald Trump ... we both curse. Even with trivial matters we curse," said Duterte.
Relations between the US and Philippine have been strained since Duterte took office on June 30.

Duterte has waged a heavy crack down against drugs dealers which has claimed the lives of 4,726 people so far, including 1,725, people who were killed in police operations and the rest by vigilante groups.
