Donald Trump rushed off stage by Secret Service agents 'amid security threat' during rally

With less than two days to go before the much talked about US presidential election, we are beginning to witness some last minutes drama which might go a long way to decide the fate of the election in a few days time.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was on Saturday rushed off stage by security agents during a rally in Reno, Nevada following a security threat.

During his speech to the crowd, Trump paused and looked out into the crowd before he was whisked off stage by two Secret Service agents who rushed him backstage.

According to the Mirror, the threat was unclear although speculation on Twitter suggested a fight had broken out in the crowd before a man was later escorted from the venue by armed police.

After a short while, Trump returned to the stage and continued his rally speech.

"No one said it was going to be easy for us, but we will never ever be stopped" Trump said.

Trump also thanked the secret service agents.

The Secret Service later said the incident occurred when an unidentified individual in front of the stage shouted "gun."

"Secret Service agents and Reno Police Officers immediately apprehended the subject. Upon a thorough search of the subject and the surrounding area, no weapon was found," the Secret Service said in a statement.

According to reports which later emerged, it was revealed that the protester was a Republican who believes the party’s candidate is “very dangerous for the country”.

Police officers take the man away in handcuffs

Speaking after he was dragged out of the venue, the protester identified as Austyn Crites said: 

“I’m a Republican and have been supporting Republican candidates for quite some time.

“But I just don’t support Donald Trump. I’ve been fairly vocal during the primary process as well as now.

“And I just you know during my democratic, what I believe is my duty, you know, to show that I don’t even know we’re from the same party, even though you know a lot of the things that he says may resonate with a lot of people and a lot of supporters.

“You know I agree with them on many, many different issues but I just believe that, you know, he’s very dangerous for the country. And so I just came with a sign, I literally just had one sign that said ‘Republicans against Trump’.”
