Zimbabwe president, Robert Mugabe laughs over death rumours

Zimbabwe: 92-year-old Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe who returned from a trip abroad on Saturday joked that he had been resurrected, mocking rumors that he had died or was critically ill.

Speaking to reporters at the Harare international airport after arriving from Dubai, President Mugabe said;
“Yes, I was dead. It’s true I was dead. I resurrected as I always do once I get back to my country. I am real again.”
Mugabe's remarks comes after an online news site reported that he had died mid-air on his trip to Dubai.

President Mugabe’s health has been increasingly under the spotlight in recent years, particularly after the president fell down a staircase after addressing supporters last year.

Mugabe who has ruled Zimbabwe since it's Independence in 1980 has previously denied reports that he was ill and had vowed to stand for re-election in 2018.

Recently, there have been an increase in protest against his rule.
