‘My husband pushed me back to Africa’ – Tiwa Savage

Celebrities: Popular Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage who recently signed a record deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label now have a profile created for her on Roc Nation's website. Tiwa Savage spoke on how she started her music career and her rise in the music industry.


Tiwa spoke about her estranged husband Tunji Balogun also known as TeeBillz; how he influenced her music career positively and his role in her decision to move back to Africa to make more of an impact in the Africa music industry.
Tiwa who referred to her ex-husband as ‘Tunji “TJ Billz” Balogun,’ said;

“I met Tunji and he told me about the growing Afrobeats scene back home in Nigeria.  He thought I was wasting my talents being a songwriter and a backing singer and pushed me to move back to Africa. At first I thought it was a bit of a step backwards but he was adamant that this was my future. He knew it was what would set me apart from the rest.”
