Mata wants United exit as Everton show interest
Juan Mata's
future at Manchester United looked in doubt from the moment his former
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho took charge and, after he was subbed on and then off again in Sunday's Community Shield, it appears he will be on the way out.
According to The Times,
Mata is now expected to try to force an exit even though United have
indicated that he is not for sale. The paper says Everton have explored
the possibility of a transfer, and Ronald Koeman could now press for a
move.
The Times report adds that a "humiliated" Adnan Januzajwill be seeking an exit -- more on that from the Daily Telegraph below.
Napoli eye mega-money Icardi move
Napoli have not given up hope of landing Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi in a €62 million deal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Inter have remained steadfast in their stance that their captain is not for sale, but the Partenopei could push the issue financially with the windfall they received from Gonzalo Higuain's sale to Juventus.
According
to the report in Italy, Napoli are prepared to make an improved
financial offer to Icardi, compared to the numbers the sides discussed
two weeks ago. While the Nerazzurri remain adamant that the
Argentine is going nowhere, should his head be turned by the money in
Naples, they might be powerless to keep him.
Januzaj 'humiliated' by Mourinho
Jose Mourinho has left Adnan Januzaj humiliated, according to the Daily Telegraph, after the 21-year-old was sent to train with the reserves two weeks ago.
The
Belgian is now on the verge of a season-long loan at Sunderland, where
he'd be reunited with former Manchester United manager David Moyes. It
was under Moyes in 2013-14 that Januzaj enjoyed a breakthrough campaign.
Other news
- Arsenal starlet Serge Gnabry could be set to move to Hertha Berlin for a mere £1.7 million, according to Sport Bild, after the 21-year-old played just 12 minutes of first-team football on loan at West Brom last season.
- Napoli have also targeted Empoli star Riccardo Saponara as a potential replacement for Lorenzo Insigne, who has failed to agree to terms on a new deal. Gazzetta dello Sport
reported that Maurizio Sarri would jump at the chance to sign his
former Empoli playmaker and beat Leicester City, Atletico Madrid and
Sassuolo.
- Aston Villa have made an audacious £14.5 million bid for Amadou Diawara, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Bologna starlet reportedly would prefer to stay in Italy, though, with Napoli and Roma both interested.
