54 killed, 67 injured by suicide bomber in Yemen
Yemen: At
least 54 people has been killed and 67 others injured by a suicide
bomber who drove a car bomb into a militia compound in Aden on Monday,
an attack described as one of the deadliest attacks in the southern
Yemeni port city. Islamic State group ISIS has claimed responsibility
for the attack.
Speaking to Reuters, the director general of Yemen's health ministry in Aden, al-Khader Laswar, said at least 67 people were wounded in the attack in the Mansoura district of Aden.
In a statement by the Islamic State group carried by its Amaq news agency, it said one of its suicide bombers carried out the bombing.
A witnesses said the suicide bomber entered the compound behind a truck that had brought breakfast for the recruits, who had queued for the meal.
Several causalities were taken by Ambulance to the hospital run by medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). Spokesperson for the hospital said at least 45 bodies were brought to the hospital and more than 60 injured people.
Islamist militants, including ISIS has carried out series of attacks on senior officials, religious figures, security forces and the compounds of the Saudi-led Arab military coalition which supports Hadi since an 18-month-old civil war between the Houthi movement and Hadi's supporters began.

"Around 60 dead in a martyrdom operation by a fighter from Islamic State targeting a recruitment centre in Aden city," the statement said.According to a security source, the attack was targeted at a school compound where recruits of the Popular Committees, forces allied to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, were gathered for breakfast.
